Over the last few weeks on Facebook I have received posts on several days that it was National Cousins day. I don't mind celebrating cousins. I think they deserve a day to be recognized. However I am not sure if they need a day on April 12th, April 18th, April 29th and May 1st. It does seem a bit excessive. Oh and I looked it up. National Cousins Day is Friday July 24th.
Today as I write this it is May 4th. For those of you who are Star Wars fans Happy Star Wars Day and May the Fourth be with you. To those like myself who choose not to celebrate this day, have a great day anyways. Today is also International Firefighters Day.
The local news channel that I watch each morning tells me each morning what special commemorations are on each day. One day is national sock day. One day is national pancake day. One day is national kumquat day. No day passes by that we are not commemorating something. So happy whatever day to you.
We all have special days that we mark in our lives. Birthdays, anniversaries, moving dates what have you. They all mark signposts in our lives. I know in our household almost every month marks something specific. Added with the regular holidays it allows us to track the year's progress.
Some people have complained that during this time of quarantining, days have lost all meaning. Those who are not working have lost their routine. Is this the Blursday the Seventy-first day of the month Marpilmay? To those of us who feel like that, maybe special days are important to us. In the midst of all the bad news right news, we need to celebrate (safely distant and in our own homes as much as possible). So give a virtual hug to a firefighter today and may the fourth be with you. Blessings
