Last week, controversial Fox News commentator, Tucker Carlson, went on a tirade. This is nothing new. He goes on tirades often. But last week, he was going on about M and M's new depiction of its green M and M's with flat shoes rather than the normal high heels that it usually depicted the green candy. He talked about how it was an attempt by some to make the candy adrogenous.
This week other people got very upset. Walt Disney has come up with a new outfit for Minnie Mouse. This time instead of a dress, Minnie Mouse was placed in a pant suit. Again certain folks became agitated. Disney was removing gender from its core chararcters.
Funny, how no one has complained that another puppet star, Miss Piggy, has a vast wardrobe. I have seen her in dresses, I have seen her in pant suits. I have seen her wearing sports clothes. She is always dressed for the occasion.
Styles change over the years. In the 1950's men would usually be in jackets and ties. Men would wear hats. In the 1950's women would often wear dresses. But since that time, fashion has changed. My clothes are much more casual. People tend to wear clothes and shoes that are more comfortable. Life moves on.
People like Tucker Carlson like to see conspiracies in everything. Any change is viewed as a plot by someone to upset his values. I don't think many will be upset that Green M and M no longer wears spiky high heel shoes. Why can't Minnie wear a pant suit when millions of other women wear clothes like that? It is not an evil plot or conspiracy. It just means that times have changed, fashions have changed, and even Minnie deserves a new outfit now and then. Blessings.
