I have heard it for the past year and a half. I just can't wait for things to get back to normal again. Won't it be nice when we can go back to normal. Won't it be nice when we can visit like we used to. Won't it be nice when we can go shopping without worrying about social distancing, masks, and how every one else is feeling. I can remember all the way back to the fall of 2018 before we had heard of COVID. Wouldn't it be nice to be just like that once more.
Our provincial leaders have told us to go out and have the best summer ever. At the time they said that the number of COVID cases were getting smaller and smaller. People felt hope that the vaccines would be the end all of COVID. But many, for various reasons have decided not to get the shot. The Delta variant has been a surprise because of its contagiousness and it's verocity. People, tired of shut downs and wanting to get back to normal have gone out and enjoyed, but too many have not been careful. Active cases will soon surpass 8,000 in Alberta and the numbers are increasing at an alarming rate.
For the church it is a tough time. We have followed the provincial guidelines and have not had in person worship here since March 15, 2020. It has been hard and difficult for us. We have missed each other. We do need to gather once more. But we need to do so safely. The provincial government is telling us it is fine to re-open but we worry with the increasing numbers is it really safe. So we will try to re-open, with a number of restrictions, and hope that our members remain well. It is a tough decision to make. Normal is not here, and may never be quite here. But we need to move on. Blessings.
